Aylesbury New Deal for Communities Programme

Like many people living on large inner city estates, Aylesbury residents face challenges such as a poor physical environment, fear of crime, lack of job opportunities and ill health.

In 1999 the Aylesbury New Deal for Communities (NDC) was set up to improve the quality of life for Aylesbury residents.  It is supported by a £56.2 million budget from the Government.

Since its inception the Aylesbury NDC programme has helped to:

  • Improve educational results for children on the estate
  • Improve the health of residents
  • Lower crime and fear of crime
  • Assist hundreds of people into employment

The Aylesbury NDC board has set up a community development trust to ensure that all the important work that has been started under the NDC will continue.  The trust will be called Creation and will support social projects in and around the Aylesbury area, support the development of social enterprises and support residents.
