Hundreds of Southwark residents enjoyed two fun days out recently while giving their views on the latest plans for the Aylesbury regeneration.
The two recent events, held as part of the Aylesbury Future Roadshow, were organised by Southwark Council and the Aylesbury New Deal for Communities (NDC), and are travelling around the area until April 30.
The events involved a youth day on April 18, with a football competition, food and entertainment, so young people could have their say on their new neighbourhood, followed by a family fun day on April 19 at Thurlow Lodge Community Hall, offering children’s entertainment, including clowns, face-painting, a giant inflatable and free rickshaw rides.
The roadshow gives residents the opportunity to comment on the “preferred options” for developing the new neighbourhood that have been developed as part of the Area Action Plan, a planning document outlining how the future area will look.
These options include new homes, improved transport and streets, new schools, community and healthcare facilities, and more open spaces to play and relax in. Residents also saw a full-sized model showing how the new neighbourhood may look as well as artists’ impressions.
Southwark Councillor Cllr Paul Noblet, executive member for regeneration, who attended Saturday’s event, said:
“It was great to see so many of our residents enjoying a family day out and commenting on the plans for their new neighbourhood. We have listened to Aylesbury residents, taken into account their views for the future and we will continue to work together to produce the final plan.”
